Genesis 1:29 says that God gave us every plant yielding seed and every tree bearing seed and it shall be food for you. The life of the plant is in the seed. Seeds are powerful even when they are dead, because as you know if you add a little dirt and some water---you have a live plant. So Larry and I eat a lot of seeds. When we eat an apple we eat the seeds, core and all. Now if you research this as we did, you will find that apple seeds contain cyanide, and if you eat two whole cups of apple seeds (God forbid) it might make you a little sick. Some experts say that the seeds contain amygdalin that turns to the cyanide, but that the amygdalin has cancer fighting properties. I'm going with God on this one.
I also eat the seeds from bell peppers, grapes and watermelon---well anything that has seeds. I just don't pick or cut them out--unless I am having company for dinner. And I prefer not to eat anything that has been genetically grown not to produce seeds. This is done by pinching the shoots off the original plant and then they are dipped in a hormone to make it grow. I know grapes with seeds are a little annoying, and actually I choose grapes by the taste and the rich purple or black color (seeds or not), but grape seeds are great for cardiovascular conditions. You can actually buy grape seed oil because it is so full of antioxidants. Watermelon seeds are annoying to some people, but not me. They contain B vitamins, potassium, magnesium, and zinc. They are also a good source of healthy fats and proteins. Just something to think about.
There are some seeds that I prepare before eating. In the fall, when I have a pumpkin, I scrape out the seeds, wash them, lay on a paper towel to dry out a little, then I put them in a bowl and add a little coconut oil, put them on a cookie sheet, sprinkle with Himalayan salt, bake for 35-40 minutes on 300 and voila---a good healthy snack. I also do cantaloupe seeds, but they are harder to handle (but delicious on a salad). When pumpkins are not in season, I roast spaghetti squash seeds. Spaghetti squash is a great way to enjoy spaghetti without the pasta noodles---the seed snack is a bonus!!
Of course all NUTS are seeds. I can't talk enough about nuts and their nutritional value. They are a daily staple at our house. Of course to be really healthy they need to be raw and unsalted. When you roast them they lose nutritional value and when you add all the salt that is even worse because they use unhealthy salt. Another negative of having nuts around all the time is that you eat too many. Although they are healthy, eating too many will add a lot of calories and although they are full of fiber, too many will also contribute to constipation ( more on that later)----so don't go NUTS over nuts!!!!! So a handful or so a day, or served on a salad is all you need. I buy mine at Sam's or Costco's because they are cheaper.

So, if you are taking baby steps along with me, in the morning you are quickly brushing your teeth and tongue with soda, drinking lemon water, getting your lymph nodes cleaned out by 20 minutes of rapid movement, while pulling the toxins out of your teeth with coconut oil. This is a great morning detox. Then you are intermittent fasting from 12-20 hours to allow your body to rest and repair everything that ails you. Then when you start to add food to your stomach, you are considering eating live, very colorful fruits and vegetables that gives you lots of fiber that God designed to detoxify you----- and not Frankenfood made by man with all the chemicals in it.
And don't forget your water. With these few steps you are on your way to a healthy fat free body and if you are overweight or obese, you should be dropping some pounds.
My goal at his point is to get your digestive system working properly. If you are doing all of the above you should be having regular bowel movements. If not, you've got to ramp it up because you are storing toxins in your colon and that is where disease starts. So I am going to dig deep and give you the Scoop on Poop in my next blog.
