Day 8 Springs of Living Water
Day 8-- Springs of Living Water
The Bible says that when we get living water we will never thirst again. I have THAT living water. I am completely satisfied knowing that I have received Him as my Savior and I will be in heaven with Him one day. But I wish that I would never "thirst again" in this life. Because you see, I struggle with drinking water. I don't like water. I feel bloated after I drink a lot of water, and it makes me have to be close to a bathroom. It is almost like medicine to me. So this journey has not been fun, but I am learning, because I know it is vital for good health and detoxification. This also explains why I was tired, why I suffered from constipation, (sometimes going days) and other digestive issues along with dry skin, headaches, and slow healing of the body. My body was simply not flushing out all the toxins that lead to bad health.
Our body is at least 70% water, but on the molecular level, the cells are 99.9 % water. You are not a body of water, but you are water with a body. So how much water should we drink? Most health experts say 1/2 once per pound of body weight. So if you weigh 140 pounds, you would need half that, so 70 ounces of water. A cup is 8oz, so 70 divided by 8oz is about 9 cups of water--a little more than 2 quarts. Now you can get a two quart jar and fill it up and drink it all day, but this strategy did not work for me. I would look at all that water and almost gag. (Just being real and confessing my sins.) So I decided to psych myself up and look at how much water I WAS drinking and not how much I had left to drink. This motivated me a lot more. At first I counted all liquids, coffee, smoothies, etc, and this is the way I did it. I would drink my lemon water in the morning, then fill up that cup and pour it into my 2 gallon jug. Then I would drink my cup of coffee, then fill up my coffee cup with water and pour it into the 2 gallon jug. Then I would drink my water with ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) in it for lunch, then I would fill the glass up and pour it into my 2 gallon jug. This would make me smile as I saw how much I was drinking. And I was motivated to see how fast I could fill it up. So now, I concentrate on filling the jug and everything else is a bonus.
To be really effective, half your water should be drunk by midday, and the other half by four o'clock. This gives your body time to use the water while you are up and moving. Don't wait until later on in the night and say--"oh my goodness, I have a quart left to drink". This will be good for flushing out your kidneys---maybe all night long--- which will disturb your sleep. (covered later)
Now I think I mentioned earlier about adding essential oils to make water taste better. My favorite is cinnamon, orange, peppermint and spearmint. God bless you if your LOVE water! Now I am not going to get into this very heavily because it is too complicated to explain, but I drink structured water. We have a structured water device hooked to the pipes that come into our house and I have a portable unit with which I travel. I suggest that you do a Google search on the internet if you are interested. There are lots of water options out there and many are debated as to which is the best. But for now if drinking water is a struggle for you like it was for me---just get liquid into your body. Many health issues stem from not enough water, and we will talk about some of them later.
This is a picture of my plan--- the 2 quart jar is on the back left. The other things represent what it takes to fill up the 2 quart jar-- a cup of coffee, a cup of lemon water, vinegar water at lunch, Kombucha, and peppermint water. Now that I look at it this way, I have no trouble drinking enough water. It has been said though (but I'm not listening yet) that for every cup of coffee and other things you drink, double that amount with additional water. Remember this is a journey for me. I pray you do not fight this battle, because water is the key to good health.
